Brownie Bread

Chocolaty loaf of bread that’s not too sweet. Great with peanut butter, toasted, and for breakfast. Kids LOVE it!

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • 2 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • ½ cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • ⅔ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk

Directions:

In a small bowl, dissolve cocoa powder in boiling water.

In a separate bowl, dissolve yeast and 2 teaspoons sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.

Place cocoa mixture, yeast mixture, bread flour, remaining 2/3 cup white sugar, salt, vegetable oil and egg in bread machine pan. Select basic Bread cycle; press Start.


Prep time: 15 mins / Cooking time: 3 hrs / Total time: 3 hrs 15 mins

Serving: 12 / Yield: 1 – 1.5 pound loaf
